| Vincent van Gogh - A Tribute
Last night we cried some uncried tears that were bottled up for a long time. We did not know there were so many uncried tears in us. The tribute to Vincent van Gogh and the song that made his life come alive, dissolved us into tears. Our shared moment can never be erased. The pictures linger, the melody and words linger. We are so eager for this tribute to find its way into your life, your heart, and beyond.
The sands of time have erased the lives and works of many an unsung hero and artist; but God knows the name of each of them. God has bottled up the tears of those who have been rejected, misunderstood, and misdiagnosed by this world. The world may not know them; the world may not honor them; the world may have put them behind bars and into straight jackets; but God knows their names.
And one by one we are learning to make room for them in our hearts. One day we will greet them at the King's banqueting table. They will be seated at the head of the table; and we will honor them the way Jesus honors them. We will see them as Jesus sees them. We will know them as Jesus knows them. We will have all eternity to get better acquainted with them.
Rebekah and I held hands as we watched a slideshow of Vincent Van Gogh's work set to the song "Vincent" by Don McLean. It was a tribute to Vincent van Gogh who died at age 37 by his own hand, having sold only one painting which his brother bought. The slideshow was part of an art and creative writing lesson plan for the patients at Mississippi State Hospital at Whitfield. As of August 2009, more than 1.5 million people have viewed the pictures.

Find someone's hand to hold as you view the slide show. Jesus is sitting next to you. Holding hands and crying together is so healing and bonds hearts.
You are precious in His sight and ours. Thank you Jesus for giving us all eternity to get better acquainted with one another.

Note from Gail:
I did a bit of research...Vincent van Gogh was a very interesting character. Born in 1853 in Groot-Zundert, Holland, he took his life in 1890. He had painted many paintings during his short lifetime. One commentary stated that he was the son of a pastor and was brought up in a "religious and cultural atmosphere". Van Gogh actually even became a pastor at one point but was relieved of his duties for being "overzealous".
Yes, it is true that he only sold one of his paintings...and it was to his brother.
His brother Theodore, whom Vincent, stayed with off and on over the years had started collecting his brother's paintings as he found them highly spiritual.
Once Vincent died, his brother Theodore followed him to death's door 6 months later. His widow took the pictures and had them published and they were very well received. She grieved knowing the true value of them and also knowing the inner turmoil that Vincent had suffered and that he had painted the paintings not only because he was letting his spiritual side out but because he was letting his turmoil of insanity out.
Many of Van Gogh's paintings now sell for multi-millions of dollars. What a shame the world did not see through his eyes. He had a beautiful gift he tried to share. Do you know someone that you should listen to or take a few minutes to view their work?
The entire Video is composed of Vincent's paintings. Please be sure your speakers are on.
Peter was right again. You will probably be brought to tears--as Peter, Rebekah and I were. Hold someone's hand (Jesus' hand is availabe) and feel--really "feel" this. It will make a more compassionate person of you.
God Bless,
Gail

Choices--We each have to make them!
This is an insert from another page Peter wrote entitled
Choices. We have all faced those moments of terror,
Those moments we were suspended between heaven and hell,
Between life and death when pain and confusion ravaged our body and soul
And robbed us of a clear mind to make wise choices.
