1. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2. He maketh
me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's
sake. 4. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will
fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest
my head with oil; my cup Runneth over. 6. Surely goodness and mercy shall
follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for
ever.
"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I
will fear no evil, for You are with me." (Psalms 23:4)
In the battles of life, your peace or shalom is actually a Lethal Weapon with
more punch than Mel Gibson. The business world alone can rob us of our peace or
wholeness. Cash flows, creditors, competitors, regulators, deadlines and
relationships all create stress on us. Your confidence in the God of peace
declares that you are not falling for the lies of the devil. The first step
toward having spiritual authority over the adversary is having the peace of God
in spite of our circumstances. The Hebrew shalom that is translated peace means
whole, complete, with nothing missing, nothing broken. When Jesus confronted the
devil, he did not confront satan with His emotions or in fear. Knowing that the
devil was more of a Liar Liar than Jim Carrey, He simply refused to be
influenced by any voice other than God's. His peace or wholeness simply
overwhelmed satan. His authority based on the Word of God shattered all the
lies, even the True Lies of Arnold.
There is a place of walking with God where you simply fear no evil, where you
have no Fear Factor. David faced a lion, a bear, and Goliath. In this famous
Psalm 23 he stood in the shadow of death itself, yet he feared no evil. David's
trust was in the Lord. Because God is with you, every adversity you face will
unfold in victory as you maintain your faith in God. David continued, "You
prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies" (Psalm 23:5). The
battle you are in will soon become a feast for you, an experience that will
nourish and build you up spiritually. Only God's peace will quell your fleshly
reactions in battle. The source of God's peace is God Himself for one of His
name is Jehovah Shalom. If fear has been knocking at your door, begin to face
down that fear with the peace or shalom of God and reduce your Fear Factor to
less than zero, to nothing more than a TV show with no power over you. It is
God's secret, and lethal, weapon to destroy ungodly fear.
